Diary #17
After successfully completing my video and rendering I had to upload it on to my blog, unfortunately blogger seems to struggle with video files, so it was necessary for me to host my video on a video sharing site before hand and then post it on my blog. I chose to use Vimeo.com, when I attempted to first upload my video the file size was too large for Vimeo, so I had to go back to adobe premiere and re export my video, lowering the bitrate so that the file size would be smaller. This worked very well, and I am now very happy to say that my final music video is on my blog!

Diary #16
Today I spent the whole day in media studies creating and rendering the final cut of my music video. Because I'd already drafted with the shots of Charlotte, I knew which shots of her that I wanted to use, and which were effective. I went through all of the footage of nick and chose the shots that I thought would be most effective to use and put them on the timeline. When the order was complete, I added a tint to create continuity between the shots of nick and Charlotte, and then I exported the video from premiere.

Diary #15
Today I filmed the footage for the second part of my video, with the male actor playing guitar. It took quite a long time to set up the shot and the studio lighting to make the shot look effective. I used two cannon EOS 550d DSLR cameras to film the second part, one I left stationary so that it could capture a lot of footage all at one angle, and the second I held, and moved around to gain more interesting shots. I filmed the song three times through in order to make sure that I had a variety of good and interesting shots to use for the final cut of my music video.

Diary #14
I created my final digipak and final magazine advert tonight. I used the program adobe photoshop in order to do this, because I thought that it would be the most effective at manipulating images Etc and as well as that I also feel quite confident at using the software now because I have used it so much in the past, for example in the creation of my music magazine coursework last year. I'm really pleased with how my digipak has turned out, however I do think that maybe. My magazine advert could do with some work, I'm going to ask my peers for some feedback on both the digipak and magazine advert. And Maybe make some changes based On The comments and feedback I receive off of them.

Diary #13
I had a very busy day today taking the pictures for my digipak design and my magazine advert. Because I decided I wanted to take pictures of sand castles I had to go and buy a bucket and spade from a local shop, before heading off to the local beach: Ruislip lido to take the images. It was very cold and I did get attacked by some angry swans in the process, however I think that I have some good images to use for my final drafts!

Diary #12
Today I did some design sketches for my digipak I just combined all of my initial ideas and what I thought would look good and did some basic sketches of the sorts of shots that i would like to include onn my digipak. I do not necessarily have to stick to this plan whenI am creating the final product, however drafting and planning this way helps me to think and remember exactly what I need to include on my digipak.

Diary #11
I have been searching high and low for a bucket and spade for my digipak photoshoot but nobody that I have asked seems to have one! Today as a final last resort I sent out a big group text to everyone of my contacts to see if I could borrow one, but nobody has one! It looks like I'm going to have to buy one from somewhere.

Diary #9
Yesterday I did some research in to the music genre of the song that I am using for my music video. The genre is 'folk music' I used the internet and websites such as wikipedia to get a brief history of the genre and youtube to watch some examples of folk music videos. I then used the online presentation software prezi.com to post the information on to my coursework blog.

Diary #8
In the last few media lessons, I have been working on the print based elements that accompany my music video: The CD Digipak and the magazine advert advertising the release of Ben Howard's new album. At the moment I have some simple preliminary ideas which i will show below of the front and back cover of the digipak. I still need to make the rest of the pages that will be included in my Digipak. As well as this the images that i have currently included on my digipak are from getty images, so I still need to have a photo shoot on location to get the images.

Diary #7
Since my last diary post, I have been working to catch up on all of my research tasks, such as 'history of music videos' and 'researching in to existing record labels. My history of music videos task i set up as a timeline, showing the advancements of music videos. With my planning work, I used the online presentation software Prezi.com to make a presentation of my initial ideas including my narrative, props, characters and setting. I also created an initial moodboard for the mood of my magazine using microsoft powerpoint and images from the internet, I decided to split my moodboard in half, one half representing the male character in my viedo and his feelings of loss, lonliness and depression, it is for that reason that his half features lots of dark and dreary colours. he other half of my moodboard represents the female character in my video and is quite bright to represent how shye is happy with her life and moving on to bigger brighter things.

Diary #6
Yesterday evening, I decided to do some similar product research, and watch a series of different music videos and make notes about the different elements included in them such as the camera angles and camera movement, and all of the different shots that were featured. Whilst looking for videos to watch, I came across a program on the music video channel 'Bliss' about the artist whose song I am using for my music video Ben Howard.

Diary #5
Today I have finallky decided on an initial idea, I have decided to use the song Promise by english singer songwriter Ben Howard. im going to do it as a love story between a boy and girl, the boy is singing the love song about the girl on his own, meanwhile we see her getting ready for a photoshoot and moving on with her life without him.
Above are the lyrics to the song that I have chosen, I am currently analysing the lyrics and making notes about what they mean as well as thinking of different shots that I could use in my music video to compliment the lyricsof the song.
Ben Howard- Promise
And meet me there, bundles of flowers, we wait through the hours of cold
Winter shall howl at the walls, tearing down doors of time
Shelter as we go
And promise me this; you'll wait for me only, scared of the lonely arms
Surface, far below these words
Maybe, just maybe I'll come home
Who am I, darling to you?
Who am I?
Going to tell you stories of mine
Who am I?
Who am I, darling for you?
Who am I?
Could be a burden in time, lonely
Who am I, to you?
Who am I, darling for you?
Who am I?
Going to be a burden
Who am I, darling to you?
Who am I?
I come alone here
I come alone here
Above are the lyrics to the song that I have chosen, I am currently analysing the lyrics and making notes about what they mean as well as thinking of different shots that I could use in my music video to compliment the lyricsof the song.

Diary #3
Today is the last day before the summer holidays, I have a lot of research left to do before I can start the planning and production for my music video coursework, and ordinarily would do it during the summer holiday, however, this summer I will be on a World Challenge expedition to Mozambique and Swaziland for a month obviously making it slightly difficult to log on and do some blog posts. Although, I am hoping that the new interesting and different surroundings that I will be experiencing in Africa may help to inspire me or give me some ideas about what to use in my music video.

Diary #2
As this is the beginning of my A2 coursework project, I decided to start with the research side of the project, which involves me researching in to the history of music videos and all kinds of things relating to music videos such a music channels, music video directors etc. so far I have researched in to the history of music videos and how they began, as well as the music video key concepts and key ideas that are included in music videos. Whilst researching in to the key concepts of music videos, I came across music video theorist Andrew Goodwin whose theory applies widely to lots of modern music videos. I presented my research on the on line presentation software from prezi.com because it is a fun and interactive way to present information.
